About this website
Living Competence is an invitation to reflect on, and to improve our day-to-day functioning.
Life in techno-society is hectic, complex, and full of compulsion. If we squint our eyes, everyone seems busy, distracted, anxious, and tired. It’s daunting to decide where to focus our energy: so much information noise, uncertainty, conflicting yet alluring goals presented to us by devious marketers. Knowing all this doesn’t help much by itself; we continue to expose ourselves to digital content and keep increasing our consumption. We get emotional over unimportant matters.
In the newsletter I’m writing about:
training our minds to make wiser choices;
issues affecting long-term outcomes in intellectual work;
adopting new routines and habits.
We will attempt to improve using mostly other people’s discoveries. The site is intended to be somewhat serious. I will even have the audacity to suggest that you practice something!
The aim is to become wiser, calmer, maybe more organized. I can’t stand being anxious or confused for long, can you? If we develop character along the way, and stay grounded in good science, all the better!
If any of this sounds relevant to your interests, please consider subscribing to get full access to the newsletter and the website.
